Architecting a Drama-Free Cloud

Architecting a Drama-Free Cloud

Hello Rafael,

There’s been lots of talk lately about how to ensure that your site or app won’t go down when your cloud provider’s service runs into trouble with storage. Or at the very least, how you can be sure to get back up quickly without losing your data.

We’ve been there, and we have several practical suggestions for how to think about your architecture so that you can enjoy the most drama-free cloud experience.

Please join Joyent CTO Mark Mayo in a discussion about how to plan and build out your cloud architecture, and then how to respond if and when an outage occurs.

Some questions we’ll discuss and attempt to answer:

• How should you assess your risk in the cloud?
• What are best practices for setting up your cloud architecture?
• How much should you have to contort to fit into your cloud provider’s architecture?
• Should you think about backup and storage differently in the cloud compared to in your enterprise or on your own servers?
• Is it costing you too much to use the lowest-cost cloud provider?
